Jeremy Pugh
Hi my name is Jeremy, many of you in the village know me as Jez, you can call me either.
My wife Julie and I have been in the village for about 21 years, we used to live on Winslow Road for about 10 years then moved to Castle Street some 10 years ago.
Both our children were brought up in the village and attended Cottesloe School.
I used to be involved on the maintenance committee of Wingrave park where I enjoyed my time.
On a personal level, I am a keen triathlete and enjoy keeping fit, I also coach at a local triathlon club.
I got involved with the Parish Council about two years ago before recently becoming Chairman.
I love the village we live in, my passion is keeping it well maintained and improving the facilities we have.
Jill Flanders
Although I do not live in the village my husband manages and works at Wingrave Garage and I have owned property in the village for over 20 years. We have two children at secondary school. Before children I worked as a fee earner in a local Solicitors specializing in Land Law and Conveyancing and prior to that, I was a Legal Assistant at Aylesbury Vale District Council.
Parishioners can contact me between the following hours:
Mon-Thurs 9am-10am and 4pm-5.30pm

I have lived in Wingrave since October 2014, together with my wife Tracey and our two boys. As some will be aware, I have been Chair of WWRSAL (Wingrave with Rowsham Sports and Leisure) since 2018. I have previously held similar roles when in Outback Australia as a general committee member of the Roxby Downs Community Board and also a member of their Business Forum subcommittee when I lived there in 2013.
As a Chartered Engineer, and Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia (holding mutual recognition with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in the UK) I am hoping to be able to help the Parish Council as more development work and future neighbourhood plans encroach on our village - and hope my 20 plus years working in construction and engineering projects may prove useful experience to the existing committee. I have a keen interest in:
1) Improving our community assets for the wider benefit of all users,
2) Promoting sustainability (by reducing waste and our human footprint on nature whilst embracing renewable carbon neutral energy whenever feasible), and
3) Creating a safe, happy and healthy environment for us to all enjoy.
In tandem with my connections to WWRSAL, my interests lie in ensuring Wingrave with Rowsham's Parish community and its facilities are looked after and improved for future generations to come.
Mary Lawrence
Hi. My name is Mary and I have lived in Rowsham for 47 years. All 5 of my children benefitted from the excellent local schools. I have worked in an administrative capacity in a number of community organisations, from the Police to Social Care. Latterly I was teaching students with additional needs. I am currently employed as a carer in the community.
I am committed to increasing community cohesion: to this end, I have organised a WhatsApp group to ensure Rowsham residents can access help and companionship. I was responsible for organising a memorial and remembrance service in Rowsham for the 100thAnniversary of the Armistice. As this was extremely successful in bringing the residents together these services have become an annual feature.
I am energetic, hard-working, and committed to promoting the well-being of everyone within the Parish Council boundaries.

I have lived in Wingrave for many years and seen the village grow and prosper. I consider Wingrave and Rowsham special places due to the people and countryside around them.
I have become a councillor to help put something back with the aim of keeping it the special place that it is.
My background is in science where I was involved in Molecular Biology (working with DNA).
I am now retired after founding, growing, and eventually selling a business involved in ultra-high-throughput DNA testing, where we invented many Reagents, Robotics and Software that is now used worldwide.
It will be a pleasure serving as a Councillor for the people of the Parish.

I have lived in this village, in Mill Lane, since 2001. I really like it here. It’s a good place to live, and Lockdown brought home to me, and many others, how fortunate we are to have a safe, pleasant and friendly village, with plenty of green space to enjoy.
Since I’ve lived here I’ve done a few things which I hope have improved it. I have been part of the Traffic Group which has championed 20 mph. I encouraged the PC to work with Ramblers and Bucks Council to replace most (not all) stiles with gates, making the footpaths more accessible. I check the footpaths every year and report any issues to Bucks Council. I am a village representative on the MacIntyre School LAB (like a governing body). I organise the Weekday Walking Group which now meets fortnightly. I have joined the Community Forum set up by Bucks Council and this emboldened me and Hannah Price to propose the wildlife verge some of you may have seen on Mill Lane.
I’d like the village to be even better than it is as a place to live. If after a few years I step down this is what I’d like to have helped achieve.
- Slower traffic speeds so that pedestrians and cyclists can enjoy moving around safely. If every vehicle moved at 20 mph rather than 30 or more, that would be possible. We got a glimpse of this last spring during Lockdown 1. It was wonderful to see kids cycling on the roads, and that should be possible all the time, not just in exceptional times.
- A café on the rec to make it fun to socialise while the kids play on the wonderful new equipment
- More encouragement for wildlife – birds, wild flowers, insects, hedgehogs – by introducing more wildlife-friendly practices, not just in the village but (dare I say this) on our neighbouring farmland
- A cycle path next to the A418 from Wingrave crossroads to the new traffic lights on the edge of Bierton, a mere 3 miles which would enable people here to cycle or walk safely to Aylesbury, and give the residents of Aylesbury easy access to country lanes and paths
- Paving of part of the Aylesbury arm canal towpath so that leisure cyclists can use it to get into town (some is already paved – only two short stretches of mud remain)
- An improved footpath network, including all stiles replaced with gates
- Better bus service, and more people using it
- More housing suitable for older people
- More connections between MacIntyre School and the rest of the village.
In my spare time I am Professor of Learning Disability History at the Open University, an honorary position.
If you see me around, usually either on a bike or with our Welsh Border Collie, Teazle, please say hello and bend my ear about how you’d like the village to change for the better.

I first moved to Rowsham in 1997. My husband and I are local sheep farmers, our farm is located in neighbouring Hulcott. We previously farmed in Wingrave for several years. We have a daughter who is studying at university, having attended local schools here in Aylesbury Vale. She breeds and shows her own flock of pedigree North Country Cheviot sheep, competing at various local shows including the Bucks County Show and Winslow Show.
I work in the IT industry, mostly working from home here in Rowsham.
As a child I spent quite few years living in Prague, in what was then Czechoslovakia, when I developed a deep love of the country, its culture and its people.
I am passionate about rural affairs, the protection of the countryside and wild life and the need to ensure food security for this country. I enjoy walking in the countryside, observing the seasonal changes and being outdoors. My favourite time of year is lambing time, when our attention is focused on the arrival of new life on the farm. It's also the most exhausting time of year for us!
I look forward to serving as a parish councillor and working as part of the team for the good of this parish and its residents.
